19 year old arrested for murder of pregnant girlfriend

16-year-old Sinthia Williams was seven months pregnant when she was allegedly stabbed to death by her boyfriend (Kariega) on October 11. Her body was found 9 days later, according to police she was found buried in a shallow in the backyard of her boyfriend’s grandparents’ home.

19-year-old Kariega (Uitenhage man) abandoned his bail and his case has been postponed till the 24 of Novermber after he appeared in the Kariega Magistrate’s Court on Thursday for murder

Over 20 residents protested outside the court against gender-based violence.

Reverend Canon Ulright Fleurs, who led a group from the local St Simon of Cyrene Anglican Church to the court, told News24 the church supported families of the victim and the accused.
