The City of Cape Town invites residents to an Open Day about the draft local neighbourhood plan for the Bo-Kaap. This plan, also known as a local spatial development framework (LSDF), is available for public comment until 31 October 2021.
The City
recognises that this heritage should be protected and enhanced to the benefit
of the local community and Capetonians in general through coordinated
sustainable development.
The meeting
will take place from 18:00 to 20:00 on Tuesday, 12 October 2021, at the
Schotsche Kloof Civic Centre in Yusuf Drive in the Bo-Kaap
The City’s
Mayoral Committee Member for Spatial Planning and Environment, Alderman Marian
Nieuwoudt has encouraged residents to attend the Open Day
“We need as
many residents as possible to comment on the draft LSDF for the Bo-Kaap. I want
to encourage the Bo-Kaap community in particular, to attend the Open Day at the
Schotsche Kloof Civic Centre. Interested parties can also complete the online
survey that will only take about 10 minutes of their time. All of the comments
that we receive during the public participation process will be used to refine
the draft LSDF. Once approved, this plan will play a pivotal role in the
regeneration of the Bo-Kaap and in enhancing a sense of place and community.’’
