Man dies after shark attack in Plattenberg

 A Beach in the Western Cape has been closed following a fatal shark attack on Tuesday afternoon. According to the The National Sea Rescue Institute a man died from his injuries following a shark attack in Plettenberg Bay after 2pm.

The National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) spokesperson Craig Lambinon confirmed the incident, and said that crew members responded to an emergency call from an eyewitness. On arrival on the scene the body of an adult male, believed to be a local man, was recovered and brought to the NSRI Plettenberg Bay rescue station.

 “The NSRI and Bitou Municipality are appealing to sea users – bathers, paddlers, sailors and boaters – in Plettenberg Bay and along the Southern Cape coastline to exercise caution following this fatal attack”, said Lambinon
