It was reported that it will cost the Cape Agulhas municipality in the region of R10m to fix damage to property caused by a storm in Arniston at the weekend.

Arniston councillor Eve Marthinus said that the wind and rain had been so severe she feared no houses in the Overberg town had been left unharmed.

Councillor Marthinus said that the story was very severe with heavy rainfall affecting every home in the area.

“About 8 houses were badly flooded; one family had to be evacuated, the gravel roads are severely damaged and are blocked off because people cannot use them anymore” Marthinus added.
