Robbers in Qumbu in the Eastern Cape have left five boxes containing R5 million on the rooftop of a Spar store.
Police say a six man gang, wearing balaclavas, struck at a Spar last night gaining entrance through the rooftop.
Police were alerted after the store’s alarm went off. The robbers managed to put R5 million in boxes and were climbing off the roof when police arrived.
Police suspect the robbers got scared and left the boxes on the rooftop before they fled the scene.
All R5 million was recovered and returned to the store.
No arrests have been made.
