Cape Winelands Fire Officials said today that the mountain fire near Tulbagh has left around 2000 hectares of vegetation destroyed.
The officials said the blaze is under control and only one home has been destroyed.
About 150 fire fighters have been hard at work to combat the blaze which started in the Waterval Mountains on Saturday.
Cape Winelands Fire Chief Dani Wilds said they cannot calculate at this stage the exact amount of land destroyed, but they estimate it is around 2000 hectares of Fynbos and alien vegetation.

Dear Lauren,
Fynbos needs fire at certain intervals to regenerate - unless certain areas have burnt too frequently - it is incorrect to say that this vegetation has been "destroyed".
