Basic Education Minister Angie Motshegka released a statement today that not all former Model C schools had scrapped Isixhosa.

This comes after the language groups had said the schools had scrapped the language and opted for Afrikaans.

Some institutions are offering the Afrikaans as an additional language instead of Isixhosa or Zulu.

Minister`s Director General Bobby Soobrayan said they have asked the schools to continue with an African language.

He said this is not a policy yet.
