The City of Cape Town is preparing to introduce more campaigns aimed at educating the public about the dangers of fires.

This comes after the Western Cape has been hit by a series of fires since the festive season.

The campaigns will raise awareness about fires and how to extinguish them.

The Disaster Risk Management’s Wilfred Solomon-Johannes said they have completed their 16 day awareness campaign in informal settlements.

Solomons said they plan to do more campaigns throughout  the year. This weekend alone about ten shacks were burnt down in Strand and Strandfontein leaving 25 people destitute.
