Today Cape Town firefighters will be on high alert after a busy afternoon yesterday putting out a number of fires in and around the Cape.

They had to attend to 15 fires that were caused by strong winds and high temperatures

They battled for a few hours to put out a large vegetation fire. Theo Layne of the Cape Town Fire Services’ says that firefighters are mainly trained to deal with vegetation fires mainly in the summer season.

He continued to say that they are trained to access paths that vehicles cannot go through. The ground firefighters walk around these areas and put out fires.
