SA farmers seeking greener pastures abroad

The Transvaal Agricultural Union released a statement today that more and more farmers are leaving the country to other countries.

The farmers are mainly concerned about the government`s land policy being vague .

Some farmers are leaving simply because they feel that in South Africa there are no opportunities anymore. The union launched a programme in 2011 for farmers that are not happy in SA to seek opportunities in Georgia and other countries.

The Department of Agriculture has dismissed the claims by saying they have helped many farmers to expand their businesses even to other African countries. The Department also maintains that South Africa has infinite opportunities in farming.
