24 weekend roadblock statistics

This weekend the Western Cape Traffic officials held 24 road blocks across the province. 

2 087 vehicles were stopped and 883 drivers were tested for alcohol. 

Provincial Traffic Chief Kenny Africa said 37 drivers were arrested for drunk driving and 599 motorists were arrested for speeding. 

Africa said two drivers were arrested for reckless and negligent driving; one person was arrested for motor theft in Beaufort West.

“A person was arrested in Vredenburg for being in possession of dagga of a street value worth R19 000” Africa added.
