The Eastern Cape Tsomo
Regional Court convicted and sentenced 21-year-old Samkelo Tshayisa to 10-years
imprisonment.
He was found guilty on Monday for the rape of
a 75-year-old woman
Police say it is believed the victim was
walking alone in Dudumashe Village, Ngqamakhwe when she met the accused.
Its alleged that he grabbed
her from behind, strangled her and raped the old woman.
Police Captain Jackson
Manatha said “apparently this was witnessed by the members of the community who
then chased the suspect and arrested him, and handed him over to the police.
He was then convicted and sentenced
to undergo 10 years imprisonment.”
