Western Cape accused of failing to implement police report

The Social Justice Coalition and Equal Education have accused the Western Cape government of failing to implement the recommendations of the Khayelitsha Commission of Inquiry into police inefficiency in the area.

A march has been organised in the Cape Town CBD for Thursday to deliver a memorandum of grievances at the Office of Premier Helen Zille. The final report was released in August two years ago.

It listed several interventions to improve policing in the area, but the SJC says these have not yet been implemented.

SJC General Secretary Phumeza Mlungwana says that Thursday's march intends to highlight recommendation 12 of the report.
