18-year-old accused of the murder Vredenburg Magistrate, Romay van Rooyen back in court

 The case against the 18-year-old accused of the murder of his aunt, the Vredenburg Magistrate, Romay van Rooyen, will resume at the Simon's Town Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

This is after the 18-year-old suspect abandoned his bail application, last month.

Cassidy Hartzenberg was arrested a few days after, 50 year-old Van Rooyen was found strangled to death in her home in Red Roman Street, Marina Da Gama, on September 10.   Hartzenberg was arrested in Mitchells Plain, after Van Rooyen’s vehicle was found in Highland’s Road, Mitchells Plain.

After the court proceedings, the National Prosecuting Authority for the Western Cape spokesperson Eric Ntabazalila said they welcome the suspects’ decision to abandoned his bail application.
