The City of Cape Town officially
launched the graffiti clean-up operations in Lavender Hill.
The operation is part of Operation Choke
which was launched last week.
Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and
Security JP Smith said they are urging community members to deal with
indications of disorder to keep the city safe and clean.
Smith
added that a 110 people have been working since February cleaning up graffiti in
some of the most damaged infected neighbourhoods across the city.
Smith added that they have cleaned just
about 13,260
square metres of gang tagging.
Smith further added Communities are getting
jobs cleaning graffiti, the city is spending about R1.3 million on their job
creation campaign.
