The Congress of South African Trade Unions in the Northern Cape has promised to join its affiliate body the South African Democratic Teachers Union in stating their sadness that a senior teacher forced a young teacher to engage in sexual conduct with him.

Cosatu said that older teachers have a responsibility to guide younger educators into performing their duties with diligence in schools.

Cosatu North West Provincial Secretary Anele Gxoyiya said they call on the department of education as well as the South African police services to investigate the matter.

Gxoyiya added that if the suspect is found guilty, the law should take its course.
