Chairperson of the Community Policing Forum Hanif Loonat, said it is immoral for officials to be speaking to corrupt members of the community.

This comes after Safety and Security MEC Dan Plato requested to meet face to face with gangsters from the Cape Flats.

Loonat said the gangsters’ existence should be totally ignored because they are the ones who hold their communities hostage.

Loonat advised all government officials not to engage with gangsters in anyway.

He added that there is a need to realize that these are the people that are terrorizing the communities on a regular basis and by having a dialogue with them it means that their existence is being accepted.
