The Democratic Alliance said they are concerned about the Business Licensing Bill that Minister of Trade and Industry Rob Davies gazetted before Parliament recently.

The party believes the bill will have a negative impact on the on job creation in the small business sector.

DA Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry Geordin Hill-Lewis said jobs will be destroyed and so will our economy by the new bill.

“The bill makes it very difficult for small entrepreneurs, street vendors and hawkers to do their business; but gives great power to the police and the metro police to abuse their power,to ask for bribes and treat business owners unfairly that is why we do not like this bill” Hill-Lweis added.

Hill-Lewis also said that they will oppose the bill in parliament.
