The National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa in the Eastern Cape will be holding a meeting of all its shop stewards in the Port Elizabeth, Uitenhage area today at Humrail Park, Summerstrand in Port Elizabeth.

Spokesman Phumzile Nodongwe said the Joint Shop Stewards Council marks the launch of a nationwide road show that will see NUMSA’s leadership explaining to Shop stewards through the length and breadth of the country what it deems as the neoliberalism in the National Development Plan.

Nodongwe said the meeting will discuss issues which relate to the wage negotiations to be held later this year and also discuss the NDP.

The union has openly criticised the African National Congress on the proposal of the NDP.
