Drunk drivers involved in fatal road accidents should have their licences immediately suspended, North West Premier Thandi Modise said on Tuesday.

Modise said driver behaviour still accounts for most crashes and road fatalities and should be dealt with harsher because one death on our road is a death too many.

Modise spokesperson Lesiba Kgwele said the Premier said  she said driver behaviour accounts for most carnage on roads; and that one death in our roads is a death too many.

“The Premier wishes to convey her condolences to the families of the 16 road users who lost their lives along the Easter long weekend” Kgwele added.
