The South African Democratic Teachers Union said Education Department has not acted with due vigilance, and is not tackling the problems that arise in education, as 25 of schools in Limpopo are still without textbooks.

Sadtu`s Nomusa Cembi said there are also claims of teacher shortages in the Eastern Cape.

Cembi said that officials at the top are downplaying the setback.

She also said that the most affected learners are grade 11 learners, as they do not have Physical Science, Mathematics and Accounting textbooks.
