The officer had been issuing the deceased with a ticket for a traffic violation on Prince George Drive, in Steenberg, when the two gunmen randomly opened fire on them.

“A case of murder and attempted murder have been opened for investigation; we urge the community of Lavender Hill and Steenberg to get involved to get these criminals to book” van Wyk added.

Van Wyk also said that anyone with information can call the investigating officer Lieutenant Brown on 021 702 9014 or 082 411 4174.
