Motorists have been warned to prepare themselves for yet another fuel price increase in February.
The increase is believed to be from as much as 10 cents and more. Hendrik Schmidt, spokesperson for the Department of Minerals and Energy says that the exact amount cannot be confirmed yet.
“It is very unfortunate that we are of the view that there should be some form of way that the government could reduce some of the prices of the increases, but the major reason for it increasing is the fact that the oil prices of the international market has reached extremely high numbers,” says Schmidt.
He says that fuel has increased by at least an average of 30 to 40 cents a month. “Just last month the fuel price rose by 43 cents a litre but the latest amount nor the date can be confirmed yet.”
