Traffic Services said people who were leaving the city should ensure their cars are in a good condition before hitting the long road.
Officials are expecting many people to be heading to holiday destinations and camp sites outside of the city.
They advice motorists to be careful and to make sure their trips are well planned.
Cape Town Traffic spokesperson Maxine Jordaan gave a warning to motorists leaving on holiday that they should check their vehicles with a proper vehicle check.
