The department of correctional services said that they will be applying for a review on the court order that allowed two of the Waterkloof four to be held under house arrest instead of prison.
Correctional Services deputy commissioner Zacharia Modise said that correctional services are going to appeal the court ruling.
He also added that the request for the review would be lodged within the timeframe of 14 days.
Gert Van Schalkwyk and Reinach Tiedt were two of the four who went to jail for killing a homeless man in 2001.
