Claims have been stated that more teachers are resigning from teaching because of the lack of discipline in schools.
This has been dismissed by the Education Department.
More teachers are leaving this profession because there is a lack of corporal punishment in schools. This study was conducted by the Human Sciences Research Council.
The South African Teachers Union mentioned that the Education Department is not doing their best to protect teachers against violent pupils. This has left most teachers no option but to resign.
Teachers feel that their lives are threatened and raised the concerned of safety taking priority.
