Today National Reconciliation Day celebrations will be held in Pretoria.

President Jacob Zuma will officially open the access road that links the Voortrekker Monument and Freedom Park.

Zuma says the road will play a huge part in reconciliation as the two memorial sites represent different faces of South Africa's history and culture.

The access road will also enable easy access for visitors to both institutions.
