A memorial service was held at St George's Cathedral in Cape Town yesterday for the late cricket legend Basil D'Oliveira who moved to England in the 1960s.
The former Cape Town all-rounder was forbidden from playing for England in South Africa because he was not white.
He will be remembered for the impressive role he played in helping to defy apartheid in sport.
D’Oliveira died last month after a long illness of Parkinson’s disease at the age of 80 years.
