Cigarette butt alert

Drivers that smoke will have to watch what they do with their cigarette butts in the Cape Town area.

Motorists are urged to report those who throw cigarette ends out their windows.

Western Cape Premier Helen Zille
warned on a social network site that drivers tossing their cigarette butts out the window would be tracked down.

In 2006, a British man was charged with culpable homicide after he was accused of starting a blaze on a mountain.It then killed an elderly British woman. It is said he flung a lit cigarette onto dry grass. He was later acquitted.
