Road Traffic management questions fines

The Road Traffic Management Corporation said it remains alarmed that the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department is continuing to break the law by sending fines via standard mail.

The metro argued that it is saving millions of rands by disregarding an Administrative Adjudication of Road Traffic Offences Act clause stating that notices must be sent via registered post.

The RTMC is yet to meet with the JMPD and mayor Parks Tau after calling for an urgent meeting.

Authorities want to see that everyone complies with the road traffic Act.
