The Congress of South African Trade Unions in the North West Province will march to the Department of Education to demanding that Rass Primary school should be reopened with immediate effect.

This is after the department closed the school and wanted to move the children in a nearby school without consulting the parents, learners and the teachers first.

Provincial secretary Solly Phetoe said that the Union opposes the merger of farm and the schools.

“This merger had created more problems for the rural learners and farm learners, in 2005/2006 we had a serious problem with the former MEC of Education who ended up being arrested and removed as MEC for this thing pertaining to the merger of the schools” Phetoe said.
