The Fire and Rescue Services Spokesperson Theo Layne has urged all shack dwellers to ensure that there is enough space in between their houses.

He also said they need not do illegal connections as all these lead to shack fires.

This comes after firefighters battled a vegetation fire on the mountain at Hout Bay near the Imizamo Yethu informal settlement this afternoon.

Layne said there was no immediate danger to property.

They had two helicopters assisting from Table Mountain National Park.
