A man arrested for shooting a police officer

A 27-year-old suspect was arrested for attempted murder, possession of an unlicensed firearm and robbery. 

This is after he allegedy shot a police officer in the Ngwelezane on Wednesday.  KwaZulu Natal Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni said shooting of a police officer is unacceptable and it is condemned in the highest possible way. 

Captain Thulani Zwane said it is alleged that a Constable from Richards Bay harbour was at Ngwelezane area when she was approached by the suspect.

Zwane said after an argument it alleged the suspect overpowered her and took her firearm and shot her. The constable was admitted to hospital and the suspect fled away from the scene

"Through investigation the members arrested the suspect at Mgungundlovu area” Zwane added.
