Black Sash has welcomed the outcome of the Constitutional Court judgment last week against All Pay versus Sassa, and Cash Payment Services.

The judgement terminates the constitutionally unlawful contract between CPS and Sassa and that mechanisms are in place to ensure the continuity of services to social grant beneficiaries.

Black Sash Spokesperson Elroy Paulus said there have been deductions for airtime, electricity and various types of loans which were unlawful.

“We will continue fighting to make sure that Sassa, the Department of Social Development, the Reserve Bank make decisions in the public interest, to protect the bank accounts of beneficiaries and to align deductions to be lawful” Paulus added.
