A 38-year-old man was arrested for the murder of a 33-year-old man who was shot and killed on Strandfontein Road on Tuesday.
PICTURE: SAPSThe joint operation between the Anti-Gang Unit, Public
Order policing (POPS), and Grassy Park assisted by other law enforcement
agencies, led the investigation to a residence where four suspects were
arrested and brought in for questioning.
‘’Interrogation of the suspects resulted in the detention
of a 38-year-old male for the murder. The other three were released as they
could not be positively linked to the crime. The suspect is due to make his
court appearance in Wynberg once he has been charged,’’ said Colonel
Andrè Traut.
PICTURE: SAPSFurthermore, a 35-year-old female and a 43 year old male
were arrested on drug related charges. Traut says a substantial quantity of
drugs was also confiscated.
‘’Ongoing violence in the Grassy Park area has been prioritized
and additional deployments of the AGU and other police units will remain in the
area until such time that stability has been restored.’’
Traut appealed to the public to come forward with any
information relating to the incident.
‘’We make an urgent appeal to the community to come forward
with information that can assist us with our investigations and interventions
so that we can create an environment where the community is protected from
gangsterism.’’
