Body of a fisherman found in Kleinmond

The National Sea Rescue Institute in Hermanus responded to Kleinmond to assist Police following reports from fishermen at sea of a body located floating at sea 2.5 nautical miles off-shore between Kleinmond and Hawston.

NSRI Spokesperson Craig Lambinon said volunteer sea rescue duty crew launched their sea rescue craft LE JENMAR II and on arrival on-scene, they located and recovered the body of a man believed to be that of one of two missing men from yesterdays incident off-shore of Kleinmond original media release below.

Lambinon said the body of the man was brought to Kleinmond harbour where the body has been handed into the care of Police and the Forensic Pathology Services.

He added that a Police Dive Unit is continuing with a search operation that is ongoing, and which also involves local Police, for the remaining missing man.

Local fishermen have also been urged to keep a lookout for the remaining missing person who is feared to have drowned.

Lambinon further said an inquest docket has been opened by Police.
