2012/13 Annual Report tabled in Parliament reveals alarmingly high vacancy
rates in key positions.

Kenneth Mubu said it is no wonder the Department continues to fail to deliver
any tangible outcomes.
Mubu said an analysis of EDD’s past annual
reports and budget for 2013/14 in 2013/14 reveals that it has received over
R2.5 billion from National Treasury since its establishment in 2009. Apart from
not being able to employ and manage staff, the Department also continues to
fail to deliver any tangible output towards facilitating actual economic
development and jobs.
