President Jacob Zuma has challenged the United Nations General Assembly to come up with an action plan for the reform of the UN Security Council by 2015.

Speaking at the Opening Session of the 68 UN General Assembly meeting in New York, Zuma said there had been too much talk about the need for reform with little action.

He urged world leaders gathering at the UN Headquarters to set up targets for the reform of the UN Security Council by 2015 in celebration of its 70th Anniversary.

Meanwhile President Jacob Zuma has thanked the United Nations for its support of Nelson Mandela and the UN-created International Mandela Day.

Zuma said this has become a catalyst to promote service to humanity worldwide.

Mandela was discharged from hospital last month and is being treated for a lung recurring infection at home.

Zuma added that Madiba is responding well to treatment at home.
