Democratic Alliance Shadow Minister
of Women, Children and People with Disabilities Helen Lamoela said 42% of
positions at various levels within the Department of
Women, Children and People with Disabilities have either never been filled or
been left vacant for almost a year despite a R57 million salary allocations.
This came out of a
parliamentary question from the DA.
Lamoela said unacceptably
lengthy vacancy periods for crucial strategic positions such as the Chief
Director: Legal Services, Chief Director Strategic Management and Chief
Director Resource Management as well as a vacant Human Resource Management
Director’s post.
“Those are very crucial
and important in the department these should have been filled seeing that we
are now in the 50th of establishment of this Department,” Lamoela
added.
