The Gauteng e-tolling system has been put on hold as confirmed by the South African National Roads Agency Limited yesterday.
The company mentioned that the system would commence on the province’s highways in February 2012.
The Congress of South African Trade Unions has threatened to take the project to court and encouraged residents to refuse the tolls.
Transport Department spokesperson Logan Maistry confirmed that the venture has been put on hold and also mentioned that new plans shall be unravelled soon.
Meanwhile most organisations said they are satisfied with the system being postponed.
