Mandela is not going to Bloemfontein

The ANC has confirmed today that former President Nelson Mandela will not attend the party`s celebration in Bloemfontein.

The ANC secretary general Gwede Mantashe says the 93 year old is at home in the Eastern Cape. Due to his age he can not be at the celebration. He is been said to be in good health.

Mandela known for his role in the fight against apartheid and his love for the party he will be kept informed with the proceedings of the celebrations.

The former President retired to his rural childhood village from Johannesburg following a health scare in 2010.
