Western Cape roadblock statistics

The Western Cape Traffic Depatnment in the Western Cape 12 road blocks over the weekend in the Wester Cape so far.

2293 vehicles were stopped and 733 drivers tested for drunk driving. Out of those arrested, the highest reading was 1.13 mg/l. One person was arrested outside Beaufort West for driving at 183 km/h in a 120 km/h zone.

The Department issued fines worth R121 600. 253 people were booked for exceeding the speed limit.

Western Cape Traffic Chief Kenny Africa said that “there was one fatality in an accident, a passenger in a vehicle when a driver lost control of his bakkie and it over turned.”
