Five people were killed in a collision during the
early hours of this morning on the R21 south near the Nelmapius off ramp.
ER24 spokesperson Werner Vermaak said, shortly
before 2am paramedics arrived on the scene where they found an Audi Q7 lying on
its roof and another vehicle repped into several pieces.
He says, four people from the torn vehicle were
found lying on the highway.
Paramedics found that one of the man, believed to
be between 25 and 35 years old, showed any signs of life.
He said that unfortunately, there was nothing that
paramedics could do for them and they were declared dead on the scene.
He added that another person was also found with
fatal injuries inside the torn vehicle. The driver of the Audi was found
walking around on scene with only minor injuries.
He was assessed by an ambulance service and
transported to a local hospital in the area foe further treatment.
Local authorities are on the scene to conduct an
investigation into the exact cause of the collision, Vermaak added.
