Two people have died after their car crashed into a truck on the M4 in Durban on Saturday night.

A third person was found to be seriously injured, in a rescue operation that required cutting the vehicle open to free them.

Netcare 911 Spokesperson Chris Botha said, “We arrived there, the vehicle was pinned underneath the truck with the occupants still trapped. As the rescue officers from Netcare used the jaws of life to extricate the people, tragically they found that two people had died on impact due to the very severe injuries they had sustained. One person was in a very serious condition.”

The third person received treatment and was later taken to hospital.
