Four suspects arrested for Illegal abalone facility in Killarney Gardens

The department of Environment together with Economic Protected Resources (EPR) and SANEB arrested four suspects between the ages of 24 and 39, on Monday, for running an illegal abalone drying facility.

The team discovered this illegal abalone facility during a search operation they were doing in Killarney Gardens.

According to the department of environment they found 8993 units weighing 2 475,91 kg of wet abalone in plastic buckets with a value of more than R4,5 million.

The suspects will appear in Cape Town Magistrate Court on Wednesday.
