Head on collision in Benoni claims the life of one

ER24 paramedics have confirmed that a head on collision in Benoni has left five people injured and one person dead.

Three of the critically injured were teens believed to be between the ages of eight and eleven years old. 

The local metro police department attended the scene and will be conducting an investigation regarding the cause of the accident. 

ER24 Spokesperson Werner Vermaak said that when paramedics and rescue personnel arrived on the scene they found a Sudan and a bakkie with severe damage and debris and personal belongings were scattered across the scene.

“Upon further investigation they found that the driver of the Sudan was still trapped behind the steering wheel and despite the efforts of the local fire department and the paramedics the man sadly to died due to his injuries shortly after he was freed from the wreckage,” added Vermaak.

He also said that in the same vehicle paramedics found a women and two children and both the women and the children sustained multiple fractures and other injuries.
