ER24 paramedics late last night attended to a scene of a smash and grab which left a suspect critically injured.

It is believed that a woman was waiting at the intersection of Snake and Pretoria road in Benoni when a man approached her vehicle.

After altercation between the two parties, the woman in an attempt to get away from the man sped off in her vehicle.

ER24 Spokesperson Vanessa Jackson said it seems that the young man was then pulled underneath the vehicle and then he sustained critical head injuries.

“Paramedics arrived on scene and placed him on life support, the women then rushed home to fetch her husband, they then went to a local police station after which they returned to the scene with the police,” added Jackson.

She also added that it is believed that he was a suspected smash and grab person and it is believed he is still in a critical condition in hospital; fortunately the women sustained no physical injuries.
