President Jacob Zuma has responded
to Agang SA’s call for him to disclose his finances.
Agang leader Mamphela Ramphele said
the fact that President Zuma has not been transparent about his finances only
fuelled public distrust in him.
Zuma in a statement said he
discloses his finances to the Secretary of Cabinet.
Presidential Spokesperson Mac
Maharaj said the constitution of South
Africa of 1996, and the
Executive Members Ethic Act of 1998, prescribed the nature, content and inform
in which members of the cabinet and the provincial executive council disclose
their financial interests annually.
Mahaj added that members of the
National Executive of government make their disclosure to the Secretary of
Cabinet who maintains the register
“The president is therefore
submitting his disclosure annually to the secretary of cabinet,” said Mahaj.
