The Commission for Gender Equality has congratulated Msutu Traditional Council for appointing Princess Ntombizodwa Msutu as the Inkosi of Msutu Traditional Council and the first woman to take up the position.

Commission for Gender Equality Spokesperson Javu Baloyi said this historic moment in the Eastern Cape will in so many ways contribute towards gender equality and equity.

Baloyi said the commission hopes this appointment will inspire other woman to push for gender equality in the Eastern Cape and the whole of South Africa.

Baloyi added that the appointment was not made because of her sexuality but was made because she was qualified and is the best to fill the position.
