The City of Cape Town’s Metro Police has reacted positively to complaints received by Nyanga residents about blocked roads and illegal activities.
Acoording to Metro police spokesperson Lowellen Petersen- the clean up operation impounded 12 vehicles which were parkeld illegally in Mabuwa Road in Nyanga and the vehicles were taken to the Metro Police’s Phillippi offices.
“Residents have been complaining that the vehicles at a make-shift workshop were obstructing the free flow of traffic and movement of pedestrians. The workshop was in close proximity of the Liwa and Oscar Mpetha primary schools. Some resident believed that the vehicles were involved in illegal activities and could endanger the school children,” says Petersen.
Petersen said that the owner’s responsibility to contact the Metro Police to collected the impounded vehicles.
